Latest studies have shown that up to 85% of visits to a physician are related to our response to stress. This program explains our body’s reaction to stress and how we can use relaxation techniques to help decrease some of our responses to stress. Techniques that are taught for self care will vary based on the needs of the groups or individuals taking the class. This class is available to community education, senior centers, churches and other organizations. |

Stress/Relaxation: |
|
This program provides an overview of the five areas of integrative medicine that are recognized by the National Institute for Health. It also includes how each are is used in self care from massage and herbal preparations to energy work and acupuncture. Ideas will also be discussed about how to choose a therapy and a therapist. This class is available to community education, senior centers, churches and other organizations.

Integrative Medicine: how to choose a therapy and a therapist: |
|
We know we age, through what does this mean physically, emotionally or mentally? What can we do about it? Participants of this class have time to look at areas of habits involving mind/body and spirit. They also get the opportunity to discuss areas of interest and time to look at opportunities for change. A workbook containing references for additional reading and tools to help with personal growth is provided. Content includes changes in body, emotional, nutritional and spiritual aspects of aging. It also includes information on stress response, integrative medicine and self care. This is a series of 8 - 2.5 hour classes that include small group discussion and homework. This program can also be provided in a long weekend. |

Graceful Aging: |
|
What can we do to help ourselves feel better? This class is designed to provide a selection of tools that with practice can help decrease stress, pain and help with sleep patterns. This class is an introduction to other techniques and classes that an individual might want to take. Experiences with guided meditation, imagery and other techniques will be provided. Techniques that are taught for self care will vary based on the needs of the groups or individuals taking the class. This program is 1 to 2 hours in length, depending on the requesting facility. This class is available to community education, senior centers, churches and other organizations.
